Common Sense
The Justice of the Peace Court is commonly referred to as the "people's court." It is presided over by an individual to decide predominantly class c misdemeanor, truancy, traffic tickets, peace bonds, evictions etc. The justice of the peace does not have to have court room experience nor needs to be an attorney. The Justice of the Peace simply needs to interpret the law using state guidelines, common sense, and a compassionate ear.

My years of experience as a small business owner for 22 years, being active in the community, and working with handicapped adults, and truant children, makes me a an excellent candidate to fill this position.

Mentoring as a Solution
In 2009 almost 500 truancy cases were reported in the Frisco Independent School District; nearly 3100 cases in the Plano Independent School District. Many truant children are growing up in a home without a father. As your Justice of the Peace, I will advocate a mentoring program to provide assistance to those families in need. Statistics tell us children growing up in a single parent home are more prone to runaway, commit violent crime, drop out of school, become pregnant ….and the list goes on. Mentoring works to provide families with structure and support, and research shows that mentoring works and can turn a child's life around. In December, when I accepted the call to run, I pledged to offer male mentoring on a voluntary basis to single mothers with truant boys that are without a dad.

Compassion
Those who find themselves in court need compassion also; a court that is sensitive to their situation and willing to offer, in many cases, much desired help. Many are under-employed and dealing with dire circumstances. The JP court should provide hours to meet the needs of the community.

One of the first things I will do as the Justice of the Peace, is to make myself available to hear truancy cases. Right now a visiting Justice holds truancy case hearings just three times per month. This does not serve the citizens well when there is a JP court in Frisco. Families need more efficient representation.

Please help and support me as we reclaim today's youth as tomorrow's generation and Make Collin County a commonsense, helping, compassionate community.

Thanks for your vote!
